Boater Certification information

There is now a requirement for boaters in Canada to have a certificate indicating proof of competency to operate a boat.  See Transport Canada Regulations.  This can come in a few ways.
First is a Canadian Boater's certificate which can be acquired on line - it takes a few hours and depending on the site from $50 to $60.  This certificate is good for life.   BoaterExam.com
A second option is to have a boater's certificate issued in a US jurisdiction such as your home state or coast guard.  Many already have this as some states already have mandatory boater's regulations.   US Power Squadron
The third option and easiest for you if you don't already have a certificate, is for me to issue you a temporary certificate. There is no cost to you and it only takes a few moments.  The only drawback for this method of compliance is that the certificate is only good for the duration of your visit and you'll require another one when you return.  This process can be expedited if you have each of your guys fill out the registration form found at this link:  registration  and send it back to us.  Contact us for your group ID Number.    Please forward the link and group id number to all the members of your and have them complete and submit it.  This will speed up the time required in our office.   We will be able to fill out all the forms in advance to save time once you are here.
Also, please remind your guys to bring their "outdoors card" if they have one.  They would have received it in the mail from our government if they bought a fishing license last year.  It is a plastic card the size of a credit card that says Ontario Outdoors card on it. It will save the $9.00 to buy a new one.  Non-Canadian Outdoors Card Info
